United Nations Youth Leadership Programme

Target：Aged 16+

Internship Location：UNIDO Shanghai

Internship Format：8 days 7 nights Shanghai onsite training and workshop+3 weeks online internship

Period：Starting from 7th July 2024, Each cohort will begin every Sunday

 

About the Youth Internship Program:

This internship program is designed to provide a unique “Work with UN” internship opportunity for youths. Participants will learn and practice the 17 core Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all UN member states in 2015, and enhance their understanding of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). The four-week program consists of a 8 days and 7 night onsite internship with workshops and training at the UNIDO Global Innovation Network Project Shanghai Global Science & Technology Innovation Centre and a three-week online internship. At the end of the internship, participants are required to submit an industry report related to the UN’s 17 SDGs goals.

The Objective of the Youth Internship Program:

  1. To learn more about the 17 core Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
  2. Understand ESG technology, and how the SDGs can be practiced through innovation and gamification technology.
  3. Aim to inspire participants to be socially responsible and improve leadership, communication, collaboration, decision-making and creativity skills
  4. Enhance their international perspective and gain early insights into the latest United Nations and global issues, in preparation for admission to the world’s top universities.
  5. Visit multinational corporations (MNCs), well-known state-owned enterprises and central enterprises to gain a deeper understanding of the sustainable development practices of large corporations.
  6. Visit Zero Carbon Pavilion, the Bund, the Oriental Pearl Tower and other iconic landmarks. Savor Shanghai’s famous cuisine, feel the history and culture of Shanghai, experience the local culture and life.

Expected Outcomes:

  1. UN-SDGs (UNIDO) Certificate
  2. ESG for UN-SDGs Design Thinking certificate issued by European Union China Foundation
  3. SDG Impact Standards Certificate issued by Social Impact Investment Foundation
  4. Youth UN-SDGs Ambassador issued by Social Impact Investment Foundation
  5. Recommendation Letter from UNIDO upon internship completion
  6. United Nations Headquarter in New York internship offer by selection (start with 2024)

 

United Nations ESG/SDGs Family Camp

Target: Kids aged 8-13 (Accompanied by 1-2 adults)

Location: UNIDO Shanghai

Experience Format: SDGs training and workshop/visit

Period: Starting from 12th July 2024, each cohort will begin every Friday

About the ESG/SDGs Family Camp：

Explore the wonderful world of the Sustainable Development Goals in United Nations! This program is designed for children aged 8 to 13 and their parents, offering a unique parent-child experience that immerses you in the charm of “experience with the United Nations”. During the 5-days, 4-nights event, you will embark on a journey within the UNIDO Global Innovation Network Project Shanghai Global Science & Technology Innovation Center, exploring topics related to the 17 core Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). During this program, you will interact with professional mentors, participate in a series of sustainable innovation workshops, engage in interactive gaming experiences, and take part in guided tours of renewable energy sites. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to visit iconic landmarks in Shanghai such as the Oriental Pearl Tower, the Bund, and the Xu Family Garden, as well as enjoy visits to Shanghai Wild Animal Park and Disneyland. By participating in this program, you will not only enhance your understanding of environmental, social, and governance issues but also deepen your parent-child relationship, and receive an UN-SDGs (UNIDO) certificate from the course together with the title of Family UN-SDGs Ambassador! This is an excellent opportunity to explore the sustainable future, understand the latest issues, and enrich your academic resume with your child. Let’s embark on this extraordinary journey together!

  2. Understand ESG innovative technologies and explore how to implement Sustainable Development Goals through innovative technologies.
  3. Foster parent-child interaction to cultivate a sense of social responsibility, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
  4. Gain insight into the latest United Nations and global issues in advance, preparing to enhance international perspectives and enrich educational resumes.
  5. Participate in guided tours of renewable energy sites, visit iconic landmarks in Shanghai, Shanghai Wild Animal Park, and Disneyland, taste Shanghai’s famous cuisine, experience Shanghai’s history and culture, promote parent-child relationships, and immerse yourself in the local cultural life.

  2. Family UN-SDGs Ambassador issued by the Social Impact Investment Foundation (SIIF)
